Varalakshmi Vratham - 2024

Varalakshmi Vratham :-

Varalakshmi Vratham involves worshiping the eight forms of Goddess Lakshmi.  Varalakshmi is the manifestation of goddess Lakshmi who grants boon (Varam).

Worshiping the aspect of Varalakshmi on this day is equivalent to worshiping the eight aspects of Goddess Mahalakshmi who represents different forms of wealth.

The Inception :-

It is in Shiva Purana, where Shiva tells the story to Parvathi that a woman named Charumathi lived in Magadha was a highly devoted  wife and daughter-in-law to her family.  Goddess Lakshmi was highly impressed and appeared in Charumathi’s dream asking to be worshiped as “Varamahalakshmi” and all of her wishes will be fulfilled soon.  The Vratham is to be performed  before a full moon of a Shravana month by Goddess Lakshmi.
